Global Viewport Basics
Share, Transfer and View Options - The Global Viewport is an iDOCS module that allows you to share with and transfer information to other designated individuals. It was originally designed for utilities to allow them to share planning documents, circuit models, line ratings, operating procedures, reliability area and NERC mandated information or transfer AutoCAD files which are too large to email.
Assists with Contract Processes - This product addresses another important function, namely the contract letting process that is so prominent in today's utility organizations. Specifically, utilities needed a way to provide bidders easy access to drawings and other bid information without allowing them access to their network. Then, to allow contractors a method to upload "as-built" drawings in a manner suitable for today's electronic data files. These needs are the foundation for the Global Viewport.
iDOCS Functionality - The owner of the viewport can arrange the layout almost any way they desire. In addition, the bin could be set up to send out an email when an item was placed in a bin for review. Access to the viewport is provided by means of a specially designed file transfer utility incorporated into iDOCS or offered as a stand-alone program. Access and viewer rights are easily managed by the viewport administrator.
Machine-to-Machine Security - In addition, each registered user will have their own software access code providing machine-to-machine security. The programs internal security resides on top of any utility VPN or firewall systems that may be installed as added protection.
